Treating ourselves with kindness and love can be a real challenge at times, especially when outside pressure and our own expectations overwhelm us. And yet, as we all know, fostering a healthy relationship with oneself is key to our well-being. Choosing ourselves means becoming aware of our strengths and weaknesses, while building our self-esteem. Over time, I’ve come to understand that self-reflection, guided by self-love, naturally leads to a more authentic and balanced life. I’d like to share with you nine simple ways that I apply on a daily basis to take care of myself and foster my well-being. LISTEN TO YOURSELF Take the time to listen to yourself. Being in tune with your needs and desires helps to establish an essential balance in your life. Obviously, this means respecting our basic needs such as sleep and hunger, but it also means paying close attention to our emotions and limitations, whether in our relationships or in our daily activities. By listening to our inner cues, we give ourselves the chance to build a harmonious relationship with oneself, which, in my opinion, is the basis of lasting well-being. MEDITATE Meditation allows us to explore the depths of our being. As we let go of the thoughts that hold us back, we come into closer connection with ourselves. However, we must not forget that meditation can take many forms, such as sitting, guided, or moving meditation, to name but a few. It can also find its place in a number of daily activities, such as a simple hike in the great outdoors, a meal, or an art activity. It’s up to us to choose the form and manner that best suits our needs and preferences. What works well for one person may not necessarily work for another. Personally, I’ve discovered a deep connection with myself when I play my musical instrument mindfully and intentionally. My state of mind is one of deep stillness. Breathing, motion, emotions, and feelings all become a source of conscious presence. I find myself totally immersed in the activity, and time seems to stand still. Through this musical exercise, I’m able to draw a parallel with traditional meditation, nourishing my inner peace. EAT Food provides us with the energy we need to keep our bodies running smoothly. It is the essential fuel that shapes not only our physical, but also our mental well-being. By choosing healthy, nutritious and delicious foods, we nourish both our mind and body. For me, taking an intuitive approach to food is essential. Instead of dietary restrictions, I listen to my body’s cues, its needs and desires, while staying aware of the concept of balance. I see eating as a discovery, a way of sharing and a source of great pleasure. Being in tune with myself, savoring each bite with a sense of awareness and pleasure is what guides the way I eat on a daily basis. PROBIOTICS THAT DO US GOOD Pampering your digestive health is an important part of taking care of yourself every day. That’s where Bio-K+ comes in with its delicious new product: functional shots of active probiotics. Each bottle is packed with 12.5 billion good bacteria. Thanks to their individual fermentation, these shots offer an unrivalled dose of exceptional probiotics. Whether you choose the strawberry-flavored dairy-based version or the vegan fermented pea raspberry one, either way it’s a real treat for the taste buds. On top of all that, they can be bought individually, which makes them very practical and perfect for consuming on the go during busy days. I am particularly fond of this “grab n’ go” option, which allows me to easily integrate the health benefits of probiotics into my routine, without compromising on quality or digestive well-being. JUST MOVE You don’t have to go for a 5-mile run to get your body active, just move regularly. Whether it’s going for a walk outdoors, doing some stretching, or practicing yoga, every little bit counts. And I’m not making this up: physical activity also automatically contributes to well-being by reducing stress, improving mood, and increasing concentration, among other things. Personally, I find that moving around, even just a little, does me a world of good and makes a noticeable impact on my day. LAUGH Have you ever noticed how the simple act of smiling makes everything lighter? A smile can transform our day, and a burst of laughter can relax our shoulders and release positive energy that spreads around us. Not only does laughter make us feel good, it also has the power to improve the mood and make our days much more enjoyable. So, polish that sense of humor of yours! Look for moments of joy, surround yourself with people who make you laugh and, above all, don’t hesitate to see the funny side of small everyday things. In my opinion, it’s the best therapy for body and mind. ACTIVITIES YOU LOVE Every day, take a moment to have fun and relax through activities you enjoy. While keeping stress at bay, it is a balm for the soul and a way to invigorate the mind. You should never put off treating yourself to things you enjoy. From reading a good book, to listening to music, to playing sports or enjoying a hobby, these moments are essential to your daily well-being. So don’t hesitate to treat yourself to these small pleasurable moments every day. SELF-COMPASSION Practice self-compassion by being kind to yourself and fostering gratitude to create an emotional safe space. By cherishing this conversation with ourselves, we can evolve in a healthy way without getting bogged down in unnecessary comparisons and judgments. The idea is to be kind and gentle with yourself, offering yourself the same kindness and understanding you would offer a loved one. Observe your emotions and thoughts without judging them, welcoming them fully, because creating a balanced bond with yourself is the key to long-lasting wellness. BEDTIME RITUAL For a restful sleep, I find it helpful to set up a relaxing ritual before bedtime. Whether it’s a stretching or meditation, yin yoga or reading, these rituals help you relax and prepare your body and mind for a restful night’s sleep. It’s a bit like tucking your body in and wishing it a good night. And don’t forget: you’re your own best friend!
